Loan Contracts Without Interest Unpublished From Old Babylonian Period
Abstract
The varius cuneiform texts dating back to this era have varied greatly in the knowledge of many aspects of Mesopotamia , loan contracts are one of the most important and most common types of economic trading in the ancient Babylonian era , the old Babylonian laws (the ashnuna lwa,Ishtar and hamorabi lwa) issued a number of legal articles to regulate this type of contract, stressing the necessity of recording the agreement in the presence of witnesses , as well as the signing of contractors in the name of the king etc. otherwise , the contracting parties would expose themselves to financial penalties, skills, or payments .
