Social anxiety and its relationship to social competence among high school students
Abstract
The aim of the research was to identify the social anxiety and social efficiency of secondary school students and the differences in them according to the gender, specialization and city in which the student lives. The sample of the current study was 440 students randomly selected from 12 schools in five governorates. Social Learner Scale (Leary 1983) and Sarason et al. 1985 Social Efficiency Scale. Using the Kay box, Pearson correlation coefficient, and the analysis of single variance and the Schiffe coefficient, the research found that the research sample had an average sense of social anxiety with statistically significant differences Ava sex and in favor of males, and depending on the jurisdiction of scientific competence for the benefit of students, and the lack of statistically significant differences between the five governorates students in social anxiety differences.
The results also indicated that there were statistically significant differences in the social efficiency among the students of the five governorates and for the benefit of the students Salah al-Din Governorate. The research also found a significant correlation between social anxiety and social efficiency. In light of the results reached, the researcher presented a set of recommendations and suggestions.
