Reasons for the reluctance of educational college students for study in the open scientific departments

Abstract

The current research aimed to identify the reasons behind the students 'reluctance to study in the scientific departments and to verify the research objective. A questionnaire was prepared to identify the reasons for students' reluctance to study in the scientific departments. The questionnaire was applied to a sample of (282) students randomly drawn from the research community represented by students of the humanitarian departments in the open education college in Kirkuk governorate. The results showed that the most important reasons that led to the students' reluctance to study in the scientific departments, The center of the study was the need of the scientific departments to the great effort and the difficulty of the curriculum and the scientific materials are dry and not interesting as well as the difficulty of questions and fear of failure in the study and the conclusion of the research by making a number of recommendations, including: work on the development of curricula in a way that makes them less difficult and more interesting for students, and attention to educational guidance and confirmation The educational counselors need to guide students towards the departments that are consistent with their scientific abilities, interests and tendencies, especially the scientific sections, and not to fear their difficulties. This is done through the building of guidance programs that deal with this subject.
A number of suggestions have been made, including: a study to determine the reasons for students' reluctance to study in the scientific departments of high school students, and to conduct a comparative study on abstinence among male and female students to find out which gender is more reluctant to study in scientific departments.
