Habits watch satellite TV with the audience the city of Baquba

Abstract

The study highlights the vulnerability of the Iraqi public in the city of Baghdad and the impact of demographic variables habits (the gender, the education and the age) on that, as it represents of the great importance to understand the nature of the public in watching TV. The study depends on applying a survey on a sample of the public of the Baghdad city. The issue of the research has identify throughout studying the exposure of the public to the television channels, and measure the relationship of demographic factors (the gender, the age, and the education) with the habits and the kinds of the programs watched by respondents. The study was based on a survey method through questionnaires distributed to a random sample, its total number was (250) forms distributed among the people of Baguba city. The statistical data treated cording to simple repetition account and to percentages. The test Ka 2 square used to measure the relationship with the variables, and the coefficient Pearson correlation to conduct stability
The study comes out to a set of results, the most important ones are:



  • All respondents watch satellite TV channels, and by 78.3% always, and 20.4% sometimes, and 1.3% rarely

  • The high rate of television watching by the respondents at evening by 54.4%, midnight 29.2%. The morning watching comes at the last place with percentage of 4.4%.

  • The proportion of collective watching with family increased by 74% among the respondents.

  • The respondents prefer to watch Al-Arabiya satellite television channel with percentage of (11.1%) and Al Baghdadi came in second with 10.2%, and replaced the Eastern Channel in third place with 10.1%.

  • The news and political programs ranked first among the programs that the public preferred to follow-up, and replaced entertainment programs in second place

  • Thursday and Friday are the most days in the week the respondents prefer to watch TV with percentage of 51.3%.

  • There were no statistical significant relationship between the demographic factors (the gender, the education and the age) and the desire to watch satellite TV.

  • There is statistical significant relationship between age and variable period favored by respondents to watch satellite TV.

  • There is a lack of a statistical significant relationship between the variable gender, age and period favored by respondents to watch satellite TV.

  • There is a lack of a statistical significant relationship between demographic variables (gender, age, and education) and days favored by respondents to watch satellite TV.

  • There is no statistical significant relationship between demographic factors (the gender, the education, and the age) and watching habits by the respondents.

  • There is a connection between the significant differences of the variable of gender and the place of watching satellite TV.
