The evolution of the Egyptian press Since the era of Muhammad Ali until the emergence of political parties 1805-1907
Abstract
It is well-known that press is the mirror of society and closely linked to political, social and intellectual conditions prevailing in all societies. It is linked directly proportionally to the progress and prosperity of these societies. Its positive role grows according to the flourishing of the political institutions of society, its industrial activities and social structure. At the same time, it suffers from underdevelopment and stagnation which affects society, and the impact of this failure and underdevelopment appears at first on press. But hope remains pinned to press since it is considered the effective means in building public opinion and pushing it towards addressing all forms of underdevelopment through its contribution to the growth of scientific, intellectual and national awareness of the society, as well as the censorship of the performance of the executive authorities as it is considered the fourth power in the current era.
